The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Industry of Egypt (MoFTI), in coordination with the PPP Central Unit of the Ministry of Finance, is planning to expand a mining port in Safaga, Egypt.

On October 8, 2016, the Ministry of Finance of Egypt (MoFE) signed a financial advisory services agreement with the IFC.
On October 23, 2016, MoFE signed a technical support agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB).
As of June 2017, feasibility study activities are underway and scheduled for completion by end of the third quarter or early fourth quarter of 2017.
