The Ministry of Energy, Myanmar (MoE) is planning to construct a wind farm in Myanmar. The exact location of the project is yet to be decided.
The project involves the construction of a 1,000MW wind farm comprising five phases of 200MW each in different places.
The project includes the construction of substations and related facilities, the installation of wind turbines, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
In November 2011, the Department of Electric Power under the Ministry of Electric Power 2 and Thailand’s Gunkul Engineering Public Co. (Gunkul) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the development of the project. Gunkul commenced the feasibility studies.
Gunkul has finalized the locations near Mawlamyine in Mon State, Tanintharyi Region near Dawei and also looking out for locations in Kayin State and Bokpyin for the development.
The project involves the construction of a 1,000MW wind power farm in Myanmar.
