The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Bulgaria (MoE), through Electroenergien Sistemen Operator EAD planning to build a transmission line in Bulgaria.

The project involves the construction of a new 140km, 400kV overhead power line from Dobrudja to Burgas. The project will be built in municipalities of Vetrino, Devnya, Provadia, Dolni Chiflik, Dylgopol, Rouen, Pomorie, Aitos and Burgas.

It includes the construction of substations, the laying of sub-transmission lines and distribution lines, and the installation of cable towers, power transformers and safety systems.

The project will be implemented by Electroenergien Sistemen Operator EAD and Transelectrica S.A., under the Black Sea Corridor project.

In 2014, pre-feasibility works commenced.

On August 10, 2016, the European Commission (EC) provided US$30 million in funding.

Construction is expected to begin in 2018 and are expected to complete in 2020. The project is scheduled for commissioning in 2021.
