Metro Belo Horizonte is developing the Belo Horizonte Metro Line Expansion project at Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
The project involves the modernization and expansion of Line 1 and deployment of Line 2 and Line 3. The project will be installed in three different sections of Metro Belo Horizonte. The project will develop under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
The first work will be expansion and modernization of Line 1 between Eldorado and Vilarinho. The project also includes the deployment of Line 2 between Barreiro and Calafate and Line 3 between Savassi and Lagoinha.
The 33 percent of the investment will be funded by the intervention of union participation, 25 percent will come from national growth acceleration program of state (PAC) and rest of 42 percent of the funding will come from state government, municipality of Belo Horizonta and the winner of Public-Private Partnership (PPP)of the project.
Progeo Geotecnica ltda has been selected to perform geotechnical services and surveys for the project. The construction work is expected to complete within 4 years after the start of work.
Consortium ECEP Metro formed by Engesolo Engenharia, Concremat Engenharia e technologia SA, Enecon SA and Planex SA won the technical and engineering elaboration contract for Lots 1 and 2 of Metro BH.
Consortium EPC-Consol-Egisvega won technical and engineering elaboration contract for Lot 1 of Metro BH.
The Central Unit for Public-Private Partnership of the state, linked to the Department of Economic Development, the Secretary of State for Transport and Public Works (Setop) and Metrominas - Train Metropolitan Belo Horizonte SA launched the notification for Public Consultation for deployment of PPP (public-private partnership) for the execution of works and operation of the Metro Belo Horizonte.
Central Brasileira de Trens Urbanos (CBTU) and the state government has assured the release of fund to implement the project in January 2016.
In October 2017, Ministry of Transport released fund for the expansion of Line 1 which includes an extension of 1.5km metro line in Contagem and the construction of the Novo Eldorado station.
Construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2019, and be completed in 2022.
