Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) and Osaka Gas Co. Ltd (Osaka) are planning to undertake the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG)-fired combined cycle power plant in the Luzon, Philippines.

The project involves the construction of a 1,500MW LNG-fired power plant. It includes the construction of a substation, storage tanks, access roads and a powerhouse; the installation of turbines, generators and transformers; and the laying of transmission lines.

Osaka and Meralco initiated the feasibility studies for the proposed project. Osaka and Meralco are undertaking individual studies.

Feasibility study activities are underway. Subject to the feasibility study results, Meralco and Osaka will initiate the process for formation of a joint venture to develop the project.

The project involves the construction of a 1,500MW LNG-fired power plant in Batangas, Luzon, the Philippines.
