Medicago Inc. (Medicago) is planning to build a vaccines and therapeutics production plant in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.
The project involves the construction of a 44,000m2 vaccines and therapeutics production plant on 9ha of land. It includes the construction of a production unit, laboratories, research centers, an administrative space and other related facilities, and the installation of equipment.
The Government of Canada and Government of Quebec provided loans of US$6.5 million and US$49 million respectively. The Municipal Government of Quebec City has contributed US$5.3 million to the project.
In July 2016, SNC-Lavalin Inc. was awarded US$12.5 million design contract. The scope of work includes preliminary and detailed engineering services, procurement of equipment critical to the process fabrication and the complete supply of automation integration services.
Planning activities on the project are underway. Construction works are scheduled to be completed by 2019.
