Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT) is planning to construct harbor walls and a chemical terminal at Indira Dock in Maharashtra, India.
The project involves the upgrade of four harbor wall berths from 18 to 22 ID at Indira Dock to handle large and deep drafted vessels to increase the Mumbai Port cargo handling capacity shall increase by 7 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).
It includes the construction of quay walls, berths, second chemical berth, control building and other related facilities, the upgrade of four harbor wall berths, the installation of cranes, portable conveyor belts and mobile hoppers.
MbPT secured approval from the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs in December 2007.
In March 2008, the government approved the project.
Howe (India) Pvt. Ltd has been appointed as engineering consultant for the project.
Planning activities are underway.
