The Ministry of Transport and Communications, Republic of Macedonia (MTC) is undertaking the upgrade of Gostivar to Kicevo highway project in Macedonia.
The project involves the reconstruction of 41.3km road between Gostivar and Kicevo. The project is divided into two sections.
This first section involves the construction of a 29.3km connecting highway from Gostivar to Bukojcani and second section of 12km from Bukojcani to Kicevo.
The project will include the construction of roads, road separators, carriage ways and the installation of sign boards and signals systems.
The project will be funded by The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
On March 8, 2016, MTC issued expressions of interest (EOI) for Environmental And Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) with submission deadline as March 29, 2016.
The project will be developed on public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
Balkan consulting has been appointed as design consultant for Kicevo to Bukojcani section
International Finance Corporation (IFC) appointed as lead consultant, financial Advisor and study Consultant. The scope of its works is to providing consulting services, preparation of studies and analyses regarding the estimated project construction. It will also propose a model for implementation of the project concession and a transaction adviser to the Government to conclude an agreement with the potential winning tenderer. IFC will be responsible to assist the government in structuring the project and preparation of transparent, fair and competitive process to attract a private partner to implement the project on the model of public - private partnership.
In October 2016, tenders have been invited for the project.
Tendering activities are underway.
