Midlands Solar Energy Ltd (MSE) is planning to build a power complex in Tharaka Nithi County, Kenya.
The project involves the construction of a 90MW power complex. It will be developed in two stages.
The first stage includes the construction of a 40MW solar power plant with an investment cost of US$39 million.
The second stage includes the construction of a 50MW wind power plant with an investment cost of US$114 million.
The project includes the construction of a substation, a powerhouse, the installation of solar panels, wind turbines, transformers and a generator, and the laying of transmission lines.
The project feasibility study was completed.
MSE signed a 25-year deal for the first stage with Tharaka-Nithi Government.
MSE will sign a power purchase agreement with Kenya Power.
Construction is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2017, and will take one year to complete.
