The Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA) is planning to undertake the construction of a road in Western Australia, Australia.

The project will be executed in two stages. The first stage involves the construction of a single carriageway heavy vehicle route consisting of a 10km of new road alignment and a 480m bridge over the Ord River on the Kununurra Diversion Dam. The bridge will be located approximately 7km downstream of the Kununurra Diversion Dam.

The project will include the construction of the western link which will connect Victoria Highway west of Kununurra town site to Weaber Plain Road, north of Kununurra town site.

The second stage involves the construction of the eastern link which will connect Weaber Plain Road, north of Kununurra town site to Victoria Highway east of Kununurra town site. It involves the provision of a 18km road which will ultimately link into the first stage.

The Federal Government provided funding to undertake preliminary works.

Environmental assessments and formal referral to environmental protection authority (EPA) were completed in the first quarter of 2011.

In March 2011, preliminary design work and public consultation are completed.

MRWA is in process of seeking funds.

The project involves construction of a 10km new road alignment, a 480m bridge over the Ord River and 18km road in Kununurra, Western Australia, Australia.

The US$114 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of western link which falls under stage I

2. Construction of eastern link which falls under stage II

3. Construction of a bridge

4. Installation of traffic lights

5. Laying of street lines
