Mumbai Port Trust (MPT) is undertaking the construction of an oil berth in Butcher Island, the coast of Mumbai, India.
The project involves the construction of an oil berth with a capacity of 20,000,000 metric tons per annum (MTPA). It includes the construction of a berthing dolphin, a mooring dolphin, a 2.4km trestle up to Jawahar Dweep, a 4km submarine pipeline from Jawahar Dweep to Pir Pau, related infrastructure and the installation of fire fighting system.
L&T Infrastructure Engineering Limited has been appointed as an environmental consultant.
On January 12, 2015, a Detailed Project Report was submitted.
In October 2015, an Environmental Impact Assessment report was prepared.
In December 2015, The Mumbai coastal zone management authority has given the approvals for the project.
On December 22, 2015, MPT invited the bids to submit their proposals for the civil works contract.
On May 23, 2016, ITD Cementation India Limited has signed a civil works construction contract with MPT.
In February 2017, Punj Lloyd was awarded the US$32 million contract for the Installation of offshore/onshore pipeline and terminal work.
As of August 2017, construction activities are underway.
Construction is expected to complete by the September 2018.
