Ministry of Mines, Energy and Petrol, Ivory Coast (MMEP) is planning to develop the Koulikoro Hydroelectric Power plant project in Cote d'Ivoire.
The project involves the construction of a 34MW hydro electric power plant with a dam, a substation, a power house, head race tunnels, installation of turbines, generators and transformers and the laying of transmission lines and related facilities.
The project is being developed through public-private partnership model.
In February 2014, MMEP and Platinum Power signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop the project.
In January 2015, MMEP singed the development and construction contract with Platinum Power.
Tractebel Engineering France was appointed as feasibility study consultant, Burgeap was appointed as environmental study consultant and Linklaters was appointed as a legal advisor.
In June 2015, Platinum Power signed the power purchase agreement with the Government of Cote d'Ivoire.
Study activities are underway. The project is awaiting funding approvals.
