The Mashhad Municipality (MM) is undertaking the construction of rapid transit metro line in Razavi Khorasan, Iran.

It involves the construction of a 19km metro line from Nakhrisi in the east to the Vakilabad in the southwest. It includes the construction of 22 stations, of which 11 stations are underground. The 4.7km north extension of Line I runs from Nakhrisi to the Mashhad International Airport.
In December 1999, the construction works commenced on the line I and completed on 24 April 2011
In February 2007, MURCO placed an order with CNR Changchun Railway Vehicles for 60 three-set light rail vehicles (LRV's) for the operation on Line I.The first LRVs were delivered in November 2010.
On October 10. 2011, An official inauguration of regular service was held for the project.
The project involves the construction of a 13 station with14.3km metro line between Koohsangi and Tabarsi, of which approximately 10.8 km will be constructed using a tunnel boring machine (TBM), 12 underground stations, parking facility, the installation of signalling and safety systems and the laying of railway tracks.
In May 2007, the Supreme Council has approved the construction of 14.3km Line II project.
Arthe Civil & Structure has been appointed as detailed engineering and consultancy services for the bored tunnel of Line II. It is responsible for the geo-technical investigations, design and engineering of the tunnel lining and tunnel boring works, tunnel stability analyses, design and evaluation of TBM and evaluation and selection of construction materials.
ParsMetro has been appointed as the EPC contractor for tunnel, Indra Sistemas, S.A. as tunnel control technology contractor.
On June 22, 2015, Zitron signed a contract to supply 50 ventilation fans for the project.
The project involves the construction of metro line from Amirieh Street to the end of Saba Boulevard.
It includes the construction of 28.5km metro line, and 24 stations, the installation of signal and safety systems and the laying of railway tracks. It also includes the first phase of line III is 11.5km from Ferdowsi Blvd. to the intersection of Saba Blvd, and 14 stations.
In March 2015, the first phase of line III completed.
The project involves the construction of 17.5km metro line from Shahid Rajaei Town to Khaje Rabi.
It includes the construction of 15 stations, the installation of signal and safety systems and the laying of railway tracks.
Farab Co. has been appointed as main construction contractor and CNR Changchun Railway Vehicles Co. Ltd and Tehran Wagon Manufacturing as locomotive supply contractor for the entire project.
In October 2016, Rohill was appointed to provide TetraNode solution for Line II.
On February 20, 2017, construction works on an eight-kilometer stretch from Shohada to Kashfrood, belonging to the second line commenced and are underway.
