The Ministry of Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MIDRK) plans to reconstruct the 455-km Aktobe-Makat highway in Kazakhstan.
The project involves the reconstruction of the highway, pedestrian ways, pathways, cycle paths, the construction of 11 bridges, 149 culverts, and two overpasses, and the installation of traffic signs and signals. The project will be implemented in two phases.
The first phase involves the reconstruction of the 299-km stretch of highway. The Asian Development Bank has granted a loan of US$240.3 million for the implementation of the project and the remaining US$32.7 million will be co-financed from the Republican budget.
The second phase involves the reconstruction of the 156-km stretch of highway. The authorities are in negotiations with the Islamic Development Bank for the financing of the project.
As of July 2017, planning activities are underway.
