Miller Homes Ltd (MHL), Grantley Developments Ltd (GDL) and Stretton Estate Ltd (SEL) are undertaking the construction of a City Fields project in West Yorkshire, the UK.

The project involves the construction of a mixed-use facility comprising 2,500 residential units on 150ha land and being developed in phases.

The first phase includes the construction of 500 residential units, a 2km waterfront area with canal-sidewalks, cafes, shops and restaurants.

The first phase is further divided in to sub-phases. The phase 1a includes the construction of 329 homes while phase 1b includes 171 homes.

The project also includes the construction of a primary school, health facilities, district and neighborhood centers, pedestrian ways, roads, drainage facilities, water facilities and the installation of street lights.

AECOM has been appointed as an environmental consultant, Tim Howe Consultancy as cost consultant, I-Transport as study consultant and Spawforths as architect for the proposed project.

The in-house division of MHL is undertaking the construction works.

On September 23, 2013, MHL submitted the planning application for the first phase of the project to Wakefield Council.

In May 2014, Wakefield Council’s planning committee has given the planning permission for phase 1a and outline permission for phase 1b of the project.

In June 2016, construction works on the 118 homes of phase 1a commenced and are underway. The entire project is expected to take up to 20 years to complete.
