Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) is planning to build a wind power plant in Saratoga, Howard County, Iowa, the US.
The project involves the construction of a 66MW wind power plant. It includes the construction of a powerhouse, a substation, and other related facilities, the laying of transmission lines, and the installation of 33 wind turbines, transformers, safety system.
In 2015, MGE began site selection for the project.
In 2016, MGE secured development rights from the initial wind farm developer RPM Access LLC (RPMAL), which had designated the site for wind development.
On February 21, 2017, MGE filed with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) a letter notifying the commission of MGE's intent to seek approval to build the project.
In April, MGE filed with state regulators an application to construct, own and operate the project.
Construction expected to commence in the first quarter of 2018 and to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2018.
