The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) is constructing a Shobak wind farm at Al Ibrahimiyya in Irbid, Jordan.

The project involves the construction of a 45MW of wind farm. It includes the construction of a substation and related infrastructure, the installation of turbines, transformers and power control units, and the laying of transmission lines.

In 2011, MEMR issued proposals for developers to build the project under build, own and operate basis.

Hecate Energy (Hecate) submitted bids for the development of the project in July 2011.

In July 2015, Hecate signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with National Electric Power Company (Nepco).

On July 27, 2015, the Government of Jordan granted approval to Hecate to construct the project.

Power Purchase Agreement has been signed. MEMR is in process of selecting service consultant.

Construction is expected to be completed by 2019.

Scope

The project involves the construction of a 45MW of wind farm at Al Ibrahimiyya in Irbid, Jordan.

The US$94 million project includes the following:
