Ministere de l'Ecologie, du Developpement durable et de l'Energie (MEDDE) is undertaking the development of a biomass power plant with a capacity of 51MW in Vaulx-en-Velin, Lyon, France.
The project involves the construction of a biomass power plant with three units of 17MW each, three boilers, storage facilities, substations, an administrative building, access roads and the installation of turbines, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
The project is being developed in two phases. Two boilers are to be commissioned in the beginning of 2019 (firm phase) and the third will be installed in 2023 for commissioning at the beginning of 2024 (conditional phase).
In December 2016, MEDDE launched the tender for the design, construction and installation work on the project.
In March 2017, Geotechnical studies are underway and the company ELM, a subsidiary of Dalkia, has been awarded a design, construction, and installation contract.
A public inquiry was held from March 13 to April 14, 2017.
Earthwork activities are underway with an expected commencement of construction works in the fourth quarter of 2017.
