The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region(MDoNER) through National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is planning to build a highway in Assam, India.

The project involves the construction of an 81.8km four-lane road from Jorhat to Jhanji to Demow. It include the construction of culverts, pedestrian ways, retaining walls and pavements, and the installation of lighting and overhead sign structures.

On June 8, 2012, NHAI issued the request for qualification (RFQ) for main construction contract with a submission deadline of July 9, 2012.

On September 9, 2012, NHAI issued a list of 25 pre-qualified bidders.

On April 2, 2013, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the project.

The project was initially proposed to be developed on public-private partnership (PPP) basis under design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) pattern; however, the proposal has been revised to build the project on engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) basis. The DBFOT tender has been scrapped and a fresh tender issued.

Frischmann Prabhu (India) Pvt Ltd and Voyants Solutions Pvt Ltd were appointed as engineering consultants for the project.

In May 2014, RFQ was issued while in June 2014, RFP was issued for the same.

In December 2014, Grupo Isolux Corsan, S.A. appointed as the construction contractor.

On April 30, 2015, foundation stone was laid. In June 2016, construction works commenced and are underway.

However in June 2017, the contract awarded to Grupo Isolux Corsan to undertake the work from Jorhat to Jhanji was terminated as there was negligible progress.

As of August 2017, works on the Jhanji to Demow section are progressing at a very slow pace.
