The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam (MCST) is planning to construct the sports complex in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The project involves the construction of a sports complex on 180ha of land. It includes the construction of futsal field on 11ha, basketball, and volleyball fields, 50,000-seat international football stadium, an aquatic sports complex, and other related facilities and the installation of security equipment.
The project also includes the construction of an international-standard stadium comprising an indoor bike race track and an outdoor motorcycle race track on 15ha of land and football academy on 5ha of land.
In 1994, MCST announced the plans to build 50,000-seat football stadium and track, sports stadium, swimming pool and theme park on 466ha of land. However, in 2015, the project plans have been revised to futsal, basketball and volleyball and residents for athletes and coaches on 180ha of land.
In August 2016, Nikken Sekkei Co was appointed to design the scale-1/2000 zoning plan for the project.
MCST is investing US$152 million in an international football stadium and US$195 million in an international-standard stadium.
As of August 2017, MCST and Nikken Sekkei Co is in the process of finalizing the necessary paperwork. Construction work is scheduled to be completed in 2020.
