The McHenry County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is undertaking the expansion of a road from Ackman Road to County Line Road in Geneva, Illinois, the US.
The project involves expansion of a 5.63km four-lane road into a six-lane road.
The project includes the construction of pedestrian walkways, access roads, service roads, bridges and related infrastructure, and the installation of signaling and safety systems.
The project will be constructed in two segments namely Segment 1 and Segment 2.
US$66 million Segment 1 includes the construction of road from south of Bunker Hill Drive/Huntington Drive to north of Acorn Lane/Polaris Drive and Segment 2 from north of Acorn Lane/Polaris Drive to south of Ackman Road.
TranSystems and Bollinger, Lach & Associates, Inc. were appointed to undertake the engineering design works and Mathewson Right of Way Company to secure the land needed for the project.
In February 2014, McHenry County Board (MCB) approved US$15.9 million loan for the design phase.
On September 30, 2015, the Randall Road design team completed its initial coordination with the environmental resource agencies such as the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and United States Army Corps of Engineers to determine how these agencies will be involved in processing the required permits for the Randall Road project.
Planning and land acquisition activities are underway. Construction on the Segment 1 is expected to start in 2018 with completion expected by 2020.
