Montgomery County Council (MCC) is planning to renovate its courthouse and office buildings in Norristown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, the US.

The project involves the construction of additional facilities to the courthouse, the renovation of the historic courthouse, redevelopment of the Penn Street along the east side of Hancock Square, the renovation of One Montgomery Plaza, construction of new justice center and a complete expansion of Hancock Square and other related facilities. The project will be developed in phases.

The first phase includes the security upgrade of One Montgomery Plaza, the county office building.

In December 2015, MCC approved a US$937,000 contract with AthenianRazak LLC to begin the planning design phase of the project.

On December 17, 2015, AthenianRazak presented a strategic real estate plan for the project.

In July 2016, MCC approved additional US$86,690 for the amendment to its contract with AthenianRazak LLC.

In March 2017, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP has been appointed as architecture for new justice center and the expansion of Hancock Square.

Construction works on first phase and new justice center, renovation of the courthouse, expansion of Hancock Square are expected to be completed in 2020 and the entire project is expected to completed by 2025.

Planning activities are underway.
