London Borough of Croydon (LBC) is planning to undertake the Fairfield Halls Concert Hall & Arts Venue Redevelopment project in Croydon, Greater London, the UK.
The project involves the redevelopment of Concert Hall & Arts Venue. It will include the refurbishment of seating in the concert hall, upgrading lifts and toilet facilities and turning the car park in front of the halls into a new public open space.
RHWL Architects has been appointed as the architect.
On October 20, 2015, the cabinet members approved the plans.
On February 28, 2016, it is declared that Fairfield Halls will be closed for two years from July 15, 2016, for a US$43 million redevelopment following an agreement between the venue’s management board and Croydon Council.
Rick Mather Architects has been appointed as the architect, Mott MacDonald as Structural Engineer, M&E and Project Manager, Turley as Planning Consultant, Gross Max as a Landscape architect, Gerald Eve as project manager and General Demolition as the demolition contractor for the project.
In July 2016, plans for Fairfield Halls received top-level recognition with a New London Architecture (NLA) Award.
On February 23, 2017, the project received planning approvals from the council.
In December 2017, Construction works commenced.
As of January 2018, Construction works are underway and scheduled completion in 2019.
