Krishak Bharati Cooperative Ltd (Kribhco) in joint venture with OCP Morocco (OCP) is undertaking the construction of a fertilizer plant in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, India.

The project involves the construction of a phosphoric and potassic fertilizer plant with a production capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per annum of fertilizer on 115ha of land. It is being implemented in two phases.

The US$148 million first phase includes the construction of a plant with a production capacity of 6 lakh TPA of fertilizer.

The project includes the construction of a production unit, storage units, packaging units, an administrative facility and related infrastructure, and the installation of machinery and equipment.

In June 2012, the project received approval from the Andhra Pradesh State Industrial Promotion Board.

On November 19, 2014, Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) issued orders to allocate 115ha of land for the project.

ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions has been appointed as civil engineer. The scope of the contract includes soil investigation, basic and detailed engineering works, piling works, civil works, mechanical works, electrical/instrument works, painting/insulation contractor.

In October 2015, Kribhco submitted the environmental impact assessment (EIA) study report to the Ministry of Environmental and Forestry, Government of India.

On November 8, 2016, Kribhco submitted an online EIA report to the Ministry of Environmental and Forestry.

Projects & Development India Limited (PDIL) has been appointed as consulting engineer for the project.

On February 1, 2017, Kribhco issued a request for qualification (RFQ) for the EPC contractor of the project.

On April 25, 2017, Kribhco received environmental clearance for the project.

Pre-tendering activities are underway. However, the project is facing delay as the high court has issued a notice to Andhra Pradesh state to respond to a public interest petition that challenged the decision of the authorities in allotting 286 acres of land for the proposed plant.

Subject to the commencement of construction the project will take 5 to 6 years to be operational.

The project involves the construction of a phosphoric and potassic fertilizer plant with a production capacity of 1.2 MTPA of fertilizer on 115ha of land at Sarvepalli village in Venkatachalam Mandal, Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh, India.
