The Karnataka Road Development Corporation (KRDCL), part of Karnataka Public Works Department is planning to build an elevated corridor in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
The project involves the construction of a 82.5km corridor comprising elevated corridors with six-lane elevated roads.
It includes the construction of the North-South Corridor, a 10.6km road from Central Silk Board to Hebbal; the East-West Corridor-1, 19.7km road from KR Puram to Gorguntepalya; and the East-West Corridor-2, a 27.7km road from Jnanabharathi to Varthur Kodi.
The project includes the construction of three connecting corridors: a 2.3km corridor from Richmond Road to Ulsoor that connects East-West corridor-1 to East-West corridor-2; a 9.2km corridor from Agara to Kalasipalyam that connects North-South corridor to East-West corridor-1; and a 5.7km corridor from Kalyana Nagar junction at ORR to St John’s Church Road and Wheeler Road junction.
The project also includes the construction of intersections, culverts, service roads and related infrastructure, and the installation of signaling and safety systems.
KRDCL to construct the project in Build-Own-Operate and Transfer (BOOT) mode under a public-private-partnership (PPP) basis.
On November 4, 2015, KPWD invited proposals from consulting films to prepare a feasibility report for the project with December 15, 2015 as the submission date.
Intercontinental Consultants and Technocrats Pvt. Ltd (ICT), Sak Engineering Consultants and AECOM has participated in the bidding process to prepare a feasibility report.
In January 2016, AECOM awarded as study consultant to prepare the Detailed Feasibility Report (DFR).
Venkataramanan Asssociates has been appointed as architects.
In November 2016, soil testing activities commenced and lasted till March 2017.
In April 2017, DPR was submitted to the state government for the final approval.
Planning activities are underway.
