Kandla Port Trust (KPT), a state owned port management company is undertaking the Cargo Berths Expansion project in Gujarat, India.
The project involves the development of XIII, XIV, XV and XVI multipurpose cargo berths and will be developed in two phases.
The berths XIII and XV will have the handling capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) each and berths XIV and XVI will have capacity of 4.5MTPA each.
The first phase of the project will include the construction of berth XIII with the related infrastructure facilities like paved container storage yard, retaining bunds and revetments, roadways, reefer gantries and bunkering system and Reclamation and paving of the terminal area.
The second phase of the project will include construction of three cargo berths (XIV, XV and XVI) and related infrastructure facilities.
In December 2010, Ras Infraport and JRE Infra Pvt Ltd, a SPV of IMC Ltd appointed as the BOT contractors for XIII and XV berths construction respectively.
In February 2013, construction works on berth XIII (phase I) completed.
In November 2013, construction works on cargo berth XV was completed.
On September 27, 2016, KPT issued construction tender for the berth XVI.
On September 29, 2016, KPT issued construction tender for the berth XIV.
Afcons Infrastructure Ltd has been appointed as construction contractor for Berth No. XIV and XVI.
Construction works are underway and expected to get completed by May 2019.
The Kandla Port Cargo Berths Expansion project involves the construction of four cargo berths with total capacity of 13MTPA in Gujarat, India.
The US$152 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of Cargo Berth No. XIII in Phase I
2. Construction of Cargo Berth No. XIV, XV and XVI in Phase II
3. Construction of related infrastructure
