Kribi Power Development Corporation (KPDC) owned by Globeleq and Government of Cameroon, is planning to expand its gas-fired power plant in Kribi, Cameroon.

The project involves the construction of an 114MW gas-fired power plant. It includes the construction of a powerhouse and substations, the installation of turbines, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.

On May 16, 2014, AECOM Limited prepared ESIA, was approved by the Ministry of Environment Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development of the Republic of Cameroon and the Environmental license was issued.

KPDC and Government of Cameroon will be funding the technical studies of the project.

Wartsila Corporation has been appointed as turbine supply contractor for the project.

On December 17, 2015, The African Development Bank (AfDB) approved a US$27 million loan for the expansion.

KPDC is in the process of negotiations with the National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH) for the fair price of gas supply contract.
