Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) is undertaking the expansion of water treatment plant in West Bengal, India.
The project involves the construction of a water treatment plant on 2.8ha site with a capacity of 50MGD. It includes the construction of an operations building, oxidation ditches, storage tanks, a wet well, screening and grit removal facilities, an emergency generator room, mechanical and electrical rooms and other related facilities and the laying of water pipelines.
On March 14, 2013, KMC appointed Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) as the contractor. Rites Limted has been appointed as the project management consultant for the project.
In July 2015, a part of the project with a capacity of 20MGD was completed and inaugurated.
Construction works on the remaining 30MGD is underway.
The project involves the expansion of Garden Reach water treatment plant capacity by 50 million gallons per day (MGD) in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
