Korea District Heating Corp. (KDHC) is undertaking the construction of a power plant in Gyeonggi, South Korea.
The project involves the construction of an 800MW combined heat and power plant (CHP) on 8ha area comprising two units of 400MW capacity each.
It will include the construction of a powerhouse, a substation, a reservoir, a water treatment plant, a coal handling unit, storage tanks, combustion units and other related facilities, and the installation of two gas turbines, two steam turbines, generators, transformer, cooling towers and coal conveyor belts, and the laying of transmission lines.
The project will also include the construction and installation of integrated energy systems.
On August 11, 2014, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. Ltd (Doosan) was awarded US$370 million contract to supply integrated energy systems. Under the contract, Doosan will deliver engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for two gas turbines and two steam turbines.
In March 2015, SPIG Korea Ltd (SPIG) was awarded a contract by Doosan, to supply the cooling tower. SPIG will provide the detailed structural design and material supply for a Wet/Dry (Hybrid) technology cooling tower.
On March 31, 2015, Doosan signed a contract worth US$145 million with KDHC to construct integrated energy systems. With the new contract, Doosan will execute the entire project ranging from plant design and production of the required equipment to construction and the provision of long-term services for the CHP.
In the fourth quarter of 2015, construction activities on the project commenced.
The project involves the construction of an 800MW CHP plant on 8ha area comprising two units of 400MW each at Dongtan 2 New City, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi, South Korea.
