The JSC Koltsovo Airport (KA) and OAO International Airport Nizhny Novgorod (MANN) are undertaking the international airport reconstruction project in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.
The project involves the renovation and reconstruction of an airport terminal, transport infrastructure including the reconstruction of artificial airfield pavement and replacement of lighting equipment on the runway-1(second stage) and reconstruction runway-2(first stage), a three-story building, pedestrian galleries, air bridges and other related facilities.
The project will be implemented in following three phases:
The first phase of the project includes the construction of a new passenger terminal on a 27,800m2 area with annual capacity of 1.5 million passengers.
The second phase of the project includes an extension of a new passenger terminal on a 5000m2 area with a capacity of 800 passengers per hour. The terminal will also be equipped with two passenger air bridges.
The third phase of the project includes upgrade works of the airport and to further increase the capacity of 960 passengers per hour. The final commissioning is planned for 2021.
In January 2014, the project received approval for design of the first phase of project.
In June 2014, construction works commenced for the project.
In July 2015, Transstroymekhanizatsiya OOO has been appointed as EPC contractor for the reconstruction of artificial surfaces and replacement of airfield lighting equipment of runway-1 and reconstruction runway-2.
Construction activities on the first phase were completed in the fourth quarter of 2015.
Planning activities are underway on second and third phase.
