Indo-UK Healthcare (Indo-UK) and Shapoorji Pallonji Group (SPG) are planning to build a hospital and medical college in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India.
The project involves the construction of a 1,000-bed hospital and medical college on 60.7ha of land. It includes the construction of waiting rooms, consulting rooms, laboratories, an intensive care unit, emergency rooms, administrative buildings, a medical college, a nursing college, research and development facilities, parking and related infrastructure, and the installation of equipment. It will be implemented in phases.
Phase 1 of the project includes 1,000-bed King’s College Hospital, 200 student nursing school, 200 student paramedic training school, NHS Oncology Unit with a rehabilitation centre, and IUIH supply chain centres.
The phase 2 project includes King’s College London medical college, Zimmer Biomet PG Medical Centre, IBM Asia data analytics centre, implant manufacturing industry, NHS stem cells — transnational research and medical centre, 5 star and 3 star hotels.
The Funds for the project will be raised through a combination of debt and equity from a consortium of banks including UK Export Finance and leading private equity players including Elara Capital.
Elara Capital has been appointed as financial advisor.
In November 2015, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Indo-UK and SPG to construct the project.
In February 2016, Indo-UK signed a MoU with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to develop the project.
A foundation stone will be laid by June 2016, and the construction is expected to be completed within 36 months.
In March 2016, Allotment of land to Indo-UK Institute of Health is in the process.
In July 2016, AP Government has allotted land for the project.
In August 2017, Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indo-UK Institute of Health. It was the first MoU that the APEDB, initiating the process of renewed investment promotion.
On August 17, 2017, the foundation stone is laid for King’s College Indo UK Institute of Health Medicity.
