NEK Umwelttechnik AG has been appointed as lead consultant on the project and Gamesa Corporacion Tecnologica SA supplied the wind turbines for the 80MW plant.
In April 2010, Iberdrola entered into an agreement with the Romanian network operator Transelectrica to connect the 1,500MW power plant to the national grid and in March 2011, the construction works were initiated on Mihai Viteazu, the 80MW first phase of the project.
In May 2012, construction work on the 80MW of the project was completed and in July 2013, Iberdrola put Romanian wind assets on the sales block, as the Spanish power company continues with the disposal of non-strategic assets.
Iberdrola sold its 80MW Mihai Viteazu wind farm in second quarter of 2015.
