The India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) is planning to undertake the redevelopment of Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, India.

The project involves the development of 445,510m2 built-up area including 119,445m2 of exhibition space, convention center with a 7,000 seating capacity.

It includes the construction of a hotel, retail units, restaurants, an administrative building, parking facility for 4,800 passenger cars, a grade separator at Mathura and Bhairon road junction and other related facilities. The project will be developed in two phases as follows:

The first phase includes the development of 326,065m2 build-up area comprising a state of the art convention center with a seating capacity for 7,000 persons, comprising 29 meeting rooms, lounges, services and parking space for around 4,800 passenger cars.

The second phase includes the enhancement of the exhibition space to 119,445m2 by 86,255m2 alongside the development of support infrastructure.

ITPO agreed to invest US$176 million in the project, rest amount will be assisted by the government as a loan.

On January 27, 2016, National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd (NBCC) was appointed as a project management consultant for the project.

As of April 2016, NBCC invited tenders for the demolition of existing buildings, pavilions, six Central ministries and nine exhibition halls.

In June 2016, NBCC invited bids for architectural and engineering services for the project.

In January 2017, The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the project.

On March 25, 2017, NBCC issued tender to appoint an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor including operation and maintenance for exhibition and cum-convention center IECC with a submission due date on May 22, 2017. However, the previous tender was canceled.

On July 27, 2017, NBCC re-issued tender to appoint an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor including operation and maintenance for exhibition and cum-convention center IECC with a submission due date on August 24, 2017.

Demolition works are underway. Construction activities on the first phase expected to completed by November- December 2018 and the entire project by July- August 2019.

Scope

The project involves the redevelopment of an exhibition and conventional center in a 445,510m2 built-up area in New Delhi, India.

The US$330 million project includes following:
