Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) is planning to construct an oil refinery at West Coast of India.
The project involves the construction of an oil refinery with a processing capacity of 15 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). It will include the construction of a hydrocracker unit, an isomerization unit, a desalter unit, a vacuum distillation unit, a fluid catalytic cracker (FCC) unit, coking units, waste water collection and treating system, and the laying of pipeline.
IOCL requires 1,215ha of land on west coast, either in Maharashtra, Gujarat or Karnataka for the development of the project.
In April 2014, IOCL proposed two locations to develop the project; one at Mundra port of the Adani Group (AG) and another minor port in Maharashtra. However, final location is yet to be decided.
Planning activities are underway.
