The project involves the construction of a 34,000m2 shopping centre on 8.4ha of land. It includes the construction of retail facilities, a hypermarket, restaurants, cafes, access roads, an entertainment centre, 1,000 parking space and the installation of elevators, safety and security systems.
In September 2014, IKEA signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ljubljana City Municipality.
In March 2015, IKEA acquired the project site from Zavarovalnica Triglav real estate for US$17 million.
IKEA is in the process of getting final environmental approvals, however, the project is facing delay due to opposition from the local residents.
