Iranian Airports Holding Company (IAHC) is planning to expand the Tehran Imam Khomeini international airport in Iran.
The project involves the construction of a new terminal with the capacity to handle 20 million passengers a year. It includes the construction of hangars, runways, administrative spaces, parking and related infrastructure, and the installation of safety and security systems.
On September 27, 2015, Bouygues and Aéroports de Paris entered into an agreement with ICAO to jointly develop the project.
On December 19, 2015, Netherlands Airport Consultant Company (NACO) was appointed as lead consultant, scope includes design and consulting services.
On January 28, 2016, an MoU has signed between IAHC and Bouygues and Aéroports de Paris for the development of project under BOT (build-operate-transfer) contract.
In February 2017, Aéroports de Paris pulled out of the project.
In May 2017, IAHC cancelled the MoU with Bouygues, due to its struggle to arrange financial backing from international banks.
IAHC is seeking private investors to fund the project.
