Halim Group (Halim) is planning to redevelop a hotel in Victoria, Australia.
The redevelopment project includes a tripartite composition – restoration of the original Windsor Hotel, redesign of the North wing and a new 26-story tower on the west wing.
The restoration of the original building of the Windsor includes the introduction of the Spring Street colonnades; lowering the height of the ground level windows on the facade to their original position; and re-orientation of the guest suites within the heritage building.
The redevelopment of the North wing includes replacement of the existing 1960’s North wing with a contemporary five-level building on the corner of Spring and Bourke Street. The building will include a bar and a restaurant, exclusive retail, event and function facilities. Basement levels house the new back-o- house facilities, plant rooms and parking spaces.
The restoration and redevelopment of the hotel will upgrade the capacity from 180 rooms to 281 rooms.
The 27-story tower set on the Windsor Place will be 91m tall with 150 rooms and a penthouse located on the top floor.
The project will also includes the construction of meeting rooms, a lobby, conference facilities, parking space and other related facilities.
David Collins has been appointed as interior designers and Denton Corker Marshall as architect for the project.
In 2010, Halim received building permit of the project.
In November 2014, Halim received planning and heritage approvals for the project.
In July 2015, the State Government refused to extend its building permit for the project.
