Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc (HECO) and the Department of the Navy (DoN) are planning to build a solar power plant in Honolulu, Hawaii, the US.
The project involves the construction of a 20MW solar power plant on 40.4ha of land. It includes the construction of a substation and related infrastructure, the installation of solar panels, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
On July 21, 2016, DoN signed a lease agreement with HECO.
HECO will build, own and operate the project.
The state Public Utilities Commission (SPUC) approved HECO plan in July 2017.
Construction is scheduled for completion in December 2018.
