Venus Metals Corporation Ltd (VMC) and HD Mining & Investment Pty Ltd (HD Mining), a subsidiary of Shandong Provincial Bureau of Geology & Mineral Resources, are undertaking the development of an iron ore mine in Yalgoo, Western Australia, Australia.
The project involves the development of an iron ore mine with a production capacity of 7.5MTPA on 23,400ha of land. It includes the construction of a crushing and concentrating plant, a slurry and water pipelines from Yalgoo Iron Ore Project (YIOP) to Oakajee, a desalination plant, a worker accommodation camp, and other related facilities.
METS Engineering has been appointed as an engineering consultant, Mineral Engineering Technical Services Pty Ltd as study consultant and Widenbar and Associates Pty Ltd as geological consultant.
In March 2010, VMC signed the Yalgoo Farm In and joint venture agreement with HD Mining to develop the mine.
In February 2011, a scoping study on the project was completed by Mineral Engineering Technical Services Pty Ltd.
On March 11, 2011, ProMet Engineers Pty Ltd has was appointed as study consultant to conduct the pre-feasibility study.
In August 2011, a pre-feasibility study on the project was completed.
Planning activities are underway.
