Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is planning to build an underground shopping center in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The project involves the construction of a 45,420m2 four-story underground shopping center. It includes the construction of an 21,620m2 pedestrian plaza, 16,850m2 retail area, dining and entertainment space, underground square, walkways, parking spaces, Installation of electrical system, safety and security systems.
HCMC will contribute US$240 million for the project from the ODA loans and the remaining from the investors in a public-private partnership (PPP).
In March 2016, TDC has submitted a planning application to Ho Chi Minh City Council.
HCMC is in negotiation with Japan consortium (Toshin Development Co. Ltd (TDC), Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation (JOIN), Nikken Sekkei Civil Engineering Ltd (NSC) and Osaka Chikagai Co., Ltd (OC)) to appoint as the development team. The contract is expected to be finalized in October 2017.
Construction works are expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2019 and scheduled for completion in early 2024.
