The project involves the development of a copper mine with a production capacity of 26.1MTPA on 8,134ha of land. It includes the construction, development, and operation of surface open pit copper mine and related infrastructure facilities.
The project includes the construction of a processing plant with a capacity of 90,000 tons per day (TPD), a haul road, tailings facility, buttresses, administration buildings, and related facilities, and the installation of machinery, safety and security systems.
Independent Mining Consultants Inc. has been appointed as an engineering consultant, M3 Engineering & Technology Corp as a cost engineer, Tetra Tech Inc. as a geotechnical consultant, WLR Consulting Inc., SGS Canada Inc. and Knight Piesold Consulting Ltd as study consultants.
On February 3, 2015, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) issued the Clean Water Act Section 401 Water Quality Certification.
In August 2015, Ausenco Limited has been awarded an EPCM contract for the project.
In July 2017, HBM is awaiting a federal Clean Water Act permit from the U.S. Army Corps.
