The Government of West Bengal (GoWB) is planning to undertake the Deep-Sea Port Development project in Midnapore district, West Bengal, India.
The project involves the construction of a 12m deep sea port with a handling capacity 60,000 tonnes. It includes the construction of quays, berths, cargo handling systems, warehouses, loading and unloading facilities, and related facilities, and the installation of safety systems.
The project will be executed in two phases.
The US$22 million will be funded by the state government.
In June 2016, Crisil Ltd has been appointed as study consultant.
In March 2017, land for setting up the project in west Midnapore was identified.
Planning activities are underway.
