The Government of Qatar (GoQ), through the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, is undertaking the construction of Umm Salal Mohammed housing complex project in Doha.

The project involves the construction of low-rise housing complex on 102ha of area accommodating 24,000 workers.

It includes the construction of affordable homes, sports areas, parks, mosques, ambulance assembly points, dining halls, access roads, water supply system, sewerage systems, and parking and other related facilities.

The project is developed in a public private partnership (PPP) under BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model with a concession period of 15 years.

On December 3, 2015, the design, build, finance, operate, transfer (DBFOT) contract on BOT pattern was awarded to Shaqab Abela Catering Services, Gulf Systems for Contracting and Services, and Redco International Trading and Contracting. Gulf Systems is partnered with Daruna for Real Estate Development to develop half of their allocation.

Construction activities are underway and slated to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2017.

Scope

The project involves the construction of low-rise housing complex on 102ha of area accommodating 24,000 workers in Doha, Qatar.
