The Government of Karnataka (GoK) is planning to construct an Information Technology park in Karnataka, India.
The project involves the construction of an Information Technology park on 4,249ha of land in two phases. The first phase will be developed on 838ha of land.
It will include the construction of office buildings, warehouses, administrative buildings, an exhibition convention, restaurants, a residential township, an airstrip, shopping plazas, hospitals, schools, parking and related infrastructure.
The Government of India will fund US$1,156 million for the development of the project.
Deloitte Touche has been appointed to prepare a request for proposal (RFP) documents to select project developers.
In 2010, GoK approved the planning application.
In August 2013, Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) started land acquisition for the development.
In March 2015, Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) approved US$150 million for the implementation of the project.
In September 2015, the project was placed on hold due to opposition of farmers on land acquisition issue.
As of October 2016, KIADB has acquired around 1133ha of land near Devanahalli.
Land acquisition process is underway and simultaneously GOK is seeking funds for the project.
