General Growth Properties (GGP), a subsidiary of Brookfield Property Partners, and Nordstrom Inc. are planning to undertake the expansion of Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka, the US.

The project involves the expansion of a retail facility. It will be implemented in three phases.

The first phase involves an expansion of 7,432m2 to the Macy’s store on the north side of the mall.

The second phase involves the construction of a 13,192m2 Nordstrom Department Store and a two-story 8,153m2 addition to the mall, site improvements and additional escalators. Its value is US$100 million.

The third phase involves the construction of three mall entrances and entrances near the Nordstrom store. It will include the construction of three new free-standing restaurants on the northwest side of the mall.

The project will also include the construction of two new restaurants and would create two more entrances to the project; one on the first level on the north side and second on the second level on the southeast side of the mall.

In April 2013, the Minnetonka City Council approved first phase master development plans of the project.

In February 2014, Minnetonka City Council approved the second phase master plan.

In June 2014, demolition work on the second phase commenced.

VCC LLC was appointed as the construction contractor and Vito Construction as the demolition contractor. However, Vito Construction abruptly left the project in April 2014 due to protests from union workers of safety issues.

SC Railing Company has been appointed as the design consultant and United Glass, Inc as supply contractor.

Construction work on the first phase has been completed.

In November 2015, construction work on the second phase completed.

Planning activities on the third phase are underway.

The project involves the expansion of the Ridgedale Shopping center in Minnetonka, Minnesota, the US.

The US$400 million project includes the following:

1. Expansion of Macy’s store by 7,432m2 area

2. Construction of new retail shops and restaurants

3. Construction of a 13,193m2 Nordstrom Department Store

4. Construction of three mall entrances

5. Construction of two new restaurants
