Global Energy & Industrial Operations, Inc (GEIO) is planning to undertake the oil refinery project in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka.
The project involves the construction of an oil refinery with a production capacity of 100,000 barrels per day (BPD) of crude oil.
It will include the construction of a power and steam generation plant, hydro treater and catalytic reformer (CCR) units and other related infrastructure, the installation of grass root vacuum flash, a distillation unit and a visbreaker and the laying of crude oil pipeline and connectors.
On May 15, 2011, production capacity was reduced to 100,000BDP from the earlier planned 150,000BDP.
In March 2015, Lanka IOC, a subsidiary of Indian Oil Corporation and Ceylon Petroleum Corporation appointed as associated developer.
In July 2017, GEIO issue the tender to appoint a feasibility study consultant for the proposed contract.
