Georgian Co-Investment Fund (GCF) is undertaking the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in Georgia.
The project involves the construction of a 53MW hydropower plant. It will include the construction of a dam, sand basin, a powerhouse, a substation, a reservoir, a derivation tunnel and upstream and downstream cofferdams, the installation of turbines, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
On November 8, 2008, MoU signed for the proposed project.
Verkís Consulting Engineers has been appointed to undertake a feasibility study for the project.
The consortium of Denkstatt GmbH and CES clean energy solutions was awarded a study contract by Black Sea Trade and Development Bank and Oesterreichische Entwicklungsbank AG with the scope of work includes preparing a due diligence review and a project risk assessment.
The detail design works have been conducted by Ukrhydroproject PJSC, and engineering consultancy by Hidro Dizayn.
In May 2014, GCF acquired 100% ownership of the project.
Construction works are underway and scheduled for operational in February 2019.
