On January 5, 2015, GCDL submitted the updated plans.

As of August 2015, planning officers recommended council for the rejection of the project.

On December 22, 2015, project secured planning approvals from Edinburgh City Council.

In August 2016, project secured final approvals from Edinburgh City Council.

GCDL is in discussions with the Marine Scotland and other regulatory bodies to secure the license for the water-based elements of the project. Construction is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2017 following the approval for water-based elements of the project and the construction completion is slated for 2019
