Fulcrum BioEnergy, Inc (Fulcrum) is undertaking the construction of a bio-refinery in Nevada, the US.
The project involves the construction of a bio-refinery to produce about 11 million gallons of jet fuel annually by processing 200,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste. It will include the construction of storage tanks, a processing unit, the installation of plasma enhanced melters, thermal residence chambers and a heat recovery system.
The loan guarantee was made under the USDA’s Biorefinery Assistance Program through the Bank of America.
In 2013, Fulcrum was awarded a US$4.7 million grant by the US Department of Defense (DoD) to commence engineering and development on the project. FBI provided US$4.7 million funding to complete the engineering and development process.
On September 8, 2014 FBI secured US$105 million loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
As of May 5, 2015 Fulcrum awarded the US$200 million contract to Abengoa SA.
Construction is underway and expected to complete by the first quarter of 2019.
Scope
