Frasers Property Australia Pty Ltd (Frasers) is undertaking the construction of a mixed-use development project at the Northern edge of O’Connor Street in New South Wales, Australia.
Frasers, in a joint venture with Sekisui House Australia Holdings Pty Ltd, will undertake the major development work of the project.
The project involves the construction of mixed-use facilities on 6ha of land and is executed in six phases.
It includes the redevelopment of the old Carlton and United Brewery site, bordered by Broadway and Abercrombie Street and the first three residential stages, One Central Park, Park Lane, The Mark, Connor building (sixth block) and Block 11.
Connor building is located at 8 Central Park Avenue and it includes the construction of 178 apartments over 12 levels and two retail outlets on the ground floor.
Block 11 is located between Wellington Street, Kensington Street, O'Connor Street and Balfour Street. It is a mixed residential and commercial building.
The project includes the construction of lawn areas, footpaths and new public roads linking commercial areas, on-site generation for power, cinema theatre and the installation of water harvesting system.
The project team includes: Foster + Partners and Ateliers Jean Nouvel and Johnson Pilton Walker as architects; Turf Design, Jeppe Aagaard Andersen unite and PTW have associated the architects in the design process; Christies Civil Contracting as infrastructure contractor; and Watpac Ltd as EPC contractor.
In February 2010, construction work commenced on the main park, roads and basements of the project.
In December 2010, construction work commenced on One Central Park and completed in November 2013.
In October 2011, the project has secured US$550 million funding from ANZ and The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ.
Construction works on Park Lane was completed in the fourth quarter of 2013.
In February 2014, Frasers planning to build student accommodation dwelling units on land that were designated for office space. The Department of Planning gave the approval to convert Block 4N to student accommodation, which will add to the existing student accommodation.
Frasers selected Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp (FJMT) through a design competition for Block 11.
Construction works on The Mark were completed in the fourth quarter of 2014.
Smart Design Studio was appointed as architect and interior designer for Connor building, and DesignOffice as the interior designer for the cinema hall. JBA Urban Planning Consultants Pty Ltd was appointed as the planner for the project.
On October 22, 2015, planning approval received for the Connor building.
In the first quarter of 2016, construction works on Connor building was completed.
In June 2016, Brookfield Multiplex Ltd was appointed as contractor for DUO'S, the fifth stage of the project and construction works commenced.
DUO includes the construction two towers, eastern tower with 313 high-quality apartments and a western tower with 297 hotel rooms, 5,500m2 commercial space, childcare center to accommodate up to 90 children.
In November 2017, Frasers launched the new Palace Cinema theatre.
Construction is underway for DUO's with scheduled for completion by the third quarter of 2018.
